Mexico Coues Deer Hunts

Sonoran Coues Deer: Overview

Those who have hunted Coues deer in northern Mexico know how difficult it is to find a similar opportunity for a record book buck in the States. Limited hunting allows bucks the time they need to grow world class antlers. We consistently take bucks over 110″ during our yearly Mexico trips, making this opportunity particularly suited for clients looking for a shot at a record book buck. We have selected specific Coues deer ranches in Mexico for their genetic potential, access to water and feed, and lack of hunting pressure. Coues deer hunting in Old Mexico has never been better.

Above average winter rainfall should create excellent conditions for antler growth making the 2010-2011 hunt season look even more promising.

Many hunters have reservations about crossing into Mexico to hunt. Recent unrest along the border makes choosing the right outfitter for your Mexico Coues hunt that much more important. Rest assured, Borderland Adventures will handle all of the required paperwork to cross the international border with your firearm to legally take a Coues deer. And we will take care of all the paperwork necessary to return home with your trophy Coues buck. Also, our Coues ranches are located away from troubled hotspots letting us cross at smaller ports of entry, easing the process and reducing the risks. We cross the border often throughout the year. We know what to expect. And we are with you through the entire process.

Sonoran hunting seasons

There is no formal season start and end dates to our Mexico hunts. However, those wishing to hunt Coues deer in northern Mexico should plan to hunt during the rut when deer activity is highest. Coues deer in Mexico tend to rut slightly later in the year than Coues deer to the north. For this reason, we prefer to hunt Sonora in January and February, though other arrangements can be made.

Opportunities

We spend significant time every year scouting our Sonoran Coues deer ranches to make sure we know what is happening in the field when we get there. We hang trail cameras and follow the bucks growth and movements throughout the year. It is not uncommon to see dozens of bucks a day, giving you the choice of which buck you want to hunt.
