Big Game Hunting in New Mexico
New Mexico has mixed opportunities to hunt both indigenous and exotic animal species. We hunt New Mexico through both the public land, public draw system, and through our leases with private landowners and landowner tags. The beauty of this, is that you’re not beholden to a highly competitive draw system if you want to hunt. Over the years, we’ve secured leases to excellent private ranches that afford prime hunts during the best times of the year. But these hunts sell out fast, so you’ll need to contact us as early as possible to register your interest, and secure your spot.
New Mexico’s Draw System
Unlike other western states, New Mexico does not use a point system in its draw process. This gives each applicant the same odds of drawing year after year. However, a certain number of tags are allocated to applicants who register a hunt with an licensed New Mexico outfitter, which in some instances, can greatly increase your odds of drawing a tag.
New Mexico has a landowner tag system that grants private landowners a number of species permits based on the location and size of their land holdings. We have a number of private land leases, allowing you to hunt certain species in New Mexico without having to play the odds in the New Mexico draw. This may be the easiest opportunity to hunt elk during the rut.
